DIY Garlands + Bunting
I am really excited about today’s DIY project, I’ve got to say. Reason being, this little technique is one I’ve have in my repertoire for years, but it dawned on me that I’ve never really shared a full how-to with you. So today is the day! (This is actually an idea I got from the amazing ladies at Carter & Cook Event Co. back in the day!) We’re talking about how to make paper flowers from cupcake liners and glue. It’s about as …

Today we’re making a super simple and really sweet DIY heart garland. This project is really quick and an easy way to add a little fun to a wedding reception, party or even a bedroom or other room in your house. Even if you’re really not very crafty, you can tackle this one in no time flat. I use this technique a lot for photo shoots – it’s perfect as a simple little backdrop behind a cake table …
Snow cones are one of those things that for me are so completely nostalgic. They instantly make me think of strolling the fair on a hot summer day as a kid, frozen treat in one hand and a fistful of ride tickets in the other. So, basically, I’m loving this completely adorable DIY snow cone garland over at Creature Comforts. Ez seriously always has the coolest ideas for sweet little DIY projects and this one is no exception. Pop on …

Friends, I’ve had the absolute best time being a contributor here for Cyd and The Sweetest Occasion, but the time has come for me to move along! This will be my last DIY post here, and so what better way to celebrate than with a sweet little “Bon Voyage” garland?
alpha punch-out letters (like these)
gold spray paint
tiny hole punch
First, I really wanted the letters to be gold, so I just spray painted my sheet of letters before …

I have a favorite cake decorating shop here in Seattle that is jam packed with all sorts of goodies, but this weekend, when I popped next door to the bead shop, I found little metal pennant flags. These are some sort of gold metal and are used as tags in jewelry making, but of course I have to make everything into garland. At $1.25 a piece, they make a cheap and peppy but oh-so chic little cake bunting.

It’s Spring, and I love it! And if you’re hosting any Spring-type festivities, I’ve got the perfect little garland to dress up your doings. A floating pompom garland!
a few skeins of yarn in different Spring colors
Wrap yarn around two fingers until it’s your desired thickness. Snip the end of the yarn. Slide the loops off of your fingers and tie a length of yarn around the center of the loops. Snip through all of the loops on either side …

This is a perfect example of me cruising the aisles at the craft store and happening upon a cool material. (Love that!) I have actually tried making cupcake toppers from regular aluminum foil and it was too thin and showed where my double stick tape was. This new foil tape sheet material is thicker and has an adhesive backing, perfect for making bunting or you guessed it – cupcake flags! If you have seen any of my DIYs …

Today’s DIY resulted from all the things I have been obsessing about lately – geometric shapes, metallic finishes, leather and twine! You know what they say – diamonds are a girl’s best friend! Today we’re making leather necklace favors for your next girl’s night out! For a little double duty action, just wrap them around each napkin as a napkin ring, string bunting and (bonus!) your best pals will have a little token to take home.
