I have a favorite cake decorating shop here in Seattle that is jam packed with all sorts of goodies, but this weekend, when I popped next door to the bead shop, I found little metal pennant flags. These are some sort of gold metal and are used as tags in jewelry making, but of course I have to make everything into garland. At $1.25 a piece, they make a cheap and peppy but oh-so chic little cake bunting.

It’s Spring, and I love it! And if you’re hosting any Spring-type festivities, I’ve got the perfect little garland to dress up your doings. A floating pompom garland!

Supplies -

a few skeins of yarn in different Spring colors
scissors
needle
clear thread

This is a perfect example of me cruising the aisles at the craft store and happening upon a cool material. (Love that!) I have actually tried making cupcake toppers from regular aluminum foil and it was too thin and showed where my double stick tape was. Today’s DIY resulted from all the things I have been obsessing about lately – geometric shapes, metallic finishes, leather and twine! You know what they say – diamonds are a girl’s best friend! Today we’re making leather necklace favors for your next girl’s night out!
