Long time readers have heard me wax poetic about my love for pumpkin sweets and treats year after year and this year is no exception. I’ve been itching to get in the kitchen and make myself a mess with flour and sugar, and I think these pumpkin spice chocolate chip cookies look just right for the task. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who can’t resist the combination of pumpkin and chocolate.

With summer winding down, comfort food is taking center stage in my brain. As the days grow shorter and the mornings get cooler, I think I’ll definitely be giving these root beer funnel cakes a try sometime this fall.

An Ice Cream Break

An Ice Cream Break

I’ve been home with family much of the last two weeks, sitting vigil at the hospital where my nearly 87 year old grandfather is putting up one good last fight. It has been so nice to be able to spend this time together as a family, but we’re all starting to grow weary. I think an ice cream break may be in order this evening. Doesn’t this homemade dark chocolate ice cream look just perfectly delicious?

Tea Sandwiches + Rosewater

Now that summer is in full swing, I’m all about easy entertaining and lazy afternoons. Small bites, pitchers of cocktails mixed in advance, homemade lemonade and sun tea set out to steep while you’re doing more important things like reading a book or going for a swim. These pretty little tea sandwiches and minted rosewater from Sunday Suppers for Trad Home hit just the right note for casual summer parties and bridal showers.

Loving Popsicles

I’ve been mildly obsessed with wanting to make homemade popsicles lately and now that the summer heat and humidity has shown up in full force, I’m thinking I have to make it happen. I love the idea of making homemade treats to beat the summer heat. Using fresh fruits and even champagne or prosecco puts a grown up twist on this classic treat. Or skip the booze and get the kids involved in making their own summer snacks. Either way, …

Happy Birthday Pancakes

Happy Birthday Pancakes

A few times now we’ve talked about my love for pancakes and breakfast in general. (A breakfast birthday party? Fabulous.) So, I have to say I truly believe a little stack of cake batter pancakes loaded with sprinkles and drizzled with icing sound like the perfect birthday treat. Today I am spending a quiet day at home with our pups and a backlog of magazines to celebrate my 28th birthday. The only thing that would make this day better? A …

Breakfast Love

Breakfast Love

There is something about breakfast that I just love. Do you know those people? The ones who say they hate breakfast and refuse to eat it? I can’t even imagine what that’s like! If I could only eat one meal a day it would be breakfast, no contest. I love brunch the day after an all night wedding celebration or for a sweet birthday celebration with your girlfriends. Basically, if you call it breakfast or brunch I am sold. Hook, …
