12 Waverly Bloggers of Christmas: A DIY Tablescape

This morning I’m excited to be sharing a fun and easy holiday tablescape that I came up with as a part of the 12 Waverly Bloggers of Christmas. Inspired by simple holiday craft ideas, Waverly tapped 12 of their favorite bloggers to inspire your crafting throughout the holiday season. From stockings to gift wrapping ideas to fashion accessories, we have it covered.

I love Waverly’s gorgeous wallpapers, so I decided to use their beautiful Elegance Trellis metallic wallpaper in black as my muse. It’s really more of a soft charcoal black with the loveliest metallic gold sheen. I could seriously wallpaper every room in my house with this stuff! (Find out where to purchase this wallpaper near you at Waverly’s website.) From there it was all about using loads of gold, simple tableware, some gold curling ribbon, Christmas décor you already have, scissors and tape to bring it all together.

  1. Metallic curling ribbon
  2. Simple glassware (whatever you already own works great!)
  3. Tape
  4. Sharp scissors
  5. Waverly Elegance Trellis wallpaper, black

First up, I created a super simple table runner using a length of wallpaper. Roll it out along your table, trim to size then weigh down with books so it lies flat. I left enough length on either end to be able to wrap it around the edge of the table and secure underneath with tape. Glue Dots or a similar temporary adhesive could also work well with this, but chances are you have something around the house that will work well for you.

My lovely friend Carolynn of Two Brunettes allowed me to raid her beautiful home for this project, so we had fun pulling together loads of pretty gold accessories. We filled a large glass pear with fake snow and a collection of metallic and sparkly gold ornaments that were a mix of vintage pieces from her grandmother and inexpensive ornaments you can find anywhere this time of year. The gold Christmas trees were scored at Target in the bargain section when you walk in the front door. I love the mix of metallics, everyday tableware and simple gray/black and gold color palette. This tablescape would transition easily from Christmas right through New Year’s Eve!

I cut strips of the wallpaper to add a pretty sash to wrap around each stemless champagne flute. Just cut to a width that looks proportionate to your glasses then secure with tape or Glue Dots. Long lengths of gold curling ribbon were cut and then placed at each setting for a little extra sparkle and texture. Just loop it around your hand to give it a little shape, then drop it in your soup bowl or on your dinner plate and fluff until it looks cute. Yup, that’s the technical term – fluff.

So there you have it! A super easy and super sparkly holiday table that you can easily recreate, even if you’re hosting a large crowd and need to set multiple tables.
