DIY Fabric Pompom

Hey there, friends!  Chelsea here, popping over from Lovely Indeed again to share a little more DIY inspiration. Today, we’re cooking up a cute little pouf that you can wear on your sweater, in your hair, or just about anywhere.

Here’s what you’ll need -
fabric scraps
thread
cardboard scraps
scissors
glue gun
whichever type backing you prefer (bobby pins, pin backs, clips, etc.)

First, cut two identical donut shapes out of your cardboard scraps – they should be about 2 1/2 inches across. Stack these on top of one another and set aside.

Cut your fabric into 6 strips, each 36 inches long and about 3/4 of an inch wide.  Wrap the strips one by one around your cardboard donuts.

After you’ve wrapped all of your strips, cut through the fabric so that the cardboard is exposed around the entire circumference of the donut.

Secure your fabric by wrapping a thread between the two pieces of cardboard, pulling taut, and knotting multiple times. You can also use embroidery thread for extra thickness.

Cut away the cardboard, and you have a fabric pouf. Apply a generous amount of hot glue to the bottom side and sink in a pin back, bobby pin, or clip. Let dry, flip over, and fluff up the top.

There you go! Pin it on a sweater, pop it in your hair, clip it on a purse, jacket, or shoe! I love the idea of making these for all of my girlfriends, or giving them as favors at a party or shower. Be sure to experiment with color and size – you can customize these babies as much as you like. Have fun – until next time!  xoxo

This is great! This looks fun to make too!

I remember that, when I was a child, at school, we made such pompoms with tissue paper. It was so much fun and they were so beautiful. How could I forget about them. Thanks for sharing this absolutely cute pompon and bring back so many memories.
