Sweet Blog Love

When I first started The Sweetest Occasion, I wanted to make a point to feature other blogs I love and find inspiring and to date I have done so periodically. Frankly, I was a complete blog junkie before I started blogging myself (and naturally, I still am) and I have a ton of starred items on my Google Reader and bookmarks courtesy of inspiring ideas in life, love and wedding planning compliments of other bloggers. In my very first post only a couple of months ago now, I mentioned hoping to be an inspiration to others as I really take so much away from all of the wedding professionals and blogging brides alike who are out there every day, sharing their wisdom and their frustrations and their celebrations and their hearts. Sometimes I am amazed at just how fabulous this blog world is…

At any rate, when I started this blog, I am not sure I had any inclination just how rewarding it would be for me on a personal level. I’ve been writing since I was a little kid. No joke. Short stories, novels that were never completed, plays, movie scripts, you name it. I have boxes full of my old notebooks filled with little kid handwriting and today I keep a notebook on my desk that serves the sole purpose of keeping safe ideas for the novel I hope to write someday as they pop into my head. (You will not find it surprising to know there is a matching notebook in a different color for the moment when the thoughts popping to mind are wedding-related.) My mother to this day still maintains that I was crazy not to go to school to become a writer and that it is the only thing I was ever meant to do. I have always insisted that writing came naturally to me so there was no reason I could not write while I pursued other interests and that someday I’d, you know, blow off everything else to become a best-selling novelist and live like Martha in some fabulous New England home somewhere in Maine or Massachusetts. You get the picture. I digress. The point is, not until I started writing this blog and sharing everything from the serious to the trivial with all of you, did I finally find that outlet that allows me to write while pursuing other interests. In all honesty, I can no longer imagine life without blogging.

In the last couple of weeks, some very exciting things have happened. In the next few weeks and months I will be given the opportunity to guest blog in a few different arenas. Some of this is a result of my contacting a couple of fabulous ladies I find truly inspirational and some of this is a result of opening my email only to have the treasure of a guest blogging offer awaiting me in my inbox. All around, it’s exciting and really a huge honor and I hope it will be my way of giving back out into the blog world what I have taken from it myself. It’s a big ‘ol circle of sweet blog love.

So, in an effort to keep the inspiration flowing and the love coming, I wanted to invite all of you to hit me up with an email or a comment on this post so I can update my blog roll accordingly. I subscribe via Google Reader and/or follow many of your blogs via Blogger already, but I do want to make sure to share as much link love as possible. If you’re stalking silently as I did so many blogs for so long, let me know so I can reciprocate! The bottom line is, let’s share the love and thank you to all of those who inspire me daily. In a time when the news is plagued with stories of failure, doubt, uncertainty and tough times ahead there is nothing I like better than a good cup of black dark roast coffee and my blog friends to keep me smiling.

xoxo

Well you already know I’m an avid reader.

I love hearing about your writing practices. Somewhere along the way I stoped writing. Blogging has been such an amazing outlet. I am starting to realize that I’d like to devote more time to is as a place to write. I was like you, boxes of stories when I was young. I’m not sure when it came to an end.

It sounds like you have some great things ahead in the blog world! That is so great!

What a great, heartfelt blog – I enjoy reading it probably equally as much as you enjoy writing it!
